Koopalings were the Koopa regime. When they changed his name (and pretty much gave him character) they pretty much scrapped their existance.

Some of those wouldn't work well as bosses. Like Bowser Jr., Raiden or the Run Away 5.

Some, like Eggman, Emperor Bulbax or Mother Brain would work.
