VGF Brawl Tournament

Hey, I've been thinking. A lot of us have Brawl by now, and many of us are at least able to hook to the Wiinternet every so often. So, what if we here at VGF set up a date every so often to hold a Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament online? We could set up the tournament competitors on VGF and at the time of the tournament, we could all log in and Brawl. Hell, maybe we could even pool some points together with an impartial judge and have him/her distribute it amongst the champs.

This would be an every-so-often, do it if you want to kind of thing. It would also be a good way for us to get together outside of VGF and do some actual VGing together to discuss on the F. What do you think? Lend me your thoughts.

I like the idea. Not sure if I can do it when I move to Canada, around August 3rd. Though, Irby lives there and his connection seems to be fine...

I'm up for it. I live on the West Coast, though.

So do I.

We have people in Dingo Land and Crumpet Land too, so if we did do a tournament we'd have to figure something out that would be convenient for all participants.

FYI, my connection can reach people across North America, for the most part. It may be possible to do to Britain, since I (oddly) get better ping from there.

As for Australia? We'd have to try it out to see what kind of lag that'd be... technically it's not too far away from the Southern West Coast. I think.

I'm like the only one that lives in Colorado, but Pueblo is around the middle of the US...so my connection should be really good. And my internet connection is immortality, so yea, this is a good idea. Nice job, Val.

If anyone else lives in the deep south, let me know.

I've been able to battle ML and Irby though with no lag problem.

I live in the Northwest, so if anyone would have any lag problems...

Maybe if certain areas aren't that compatible, we could hold regional tournaments.

If we're all in states (X-3 will probably qualify as well), then we can probably all battle each other. Unless someone in New York plays like someone in San Fransisco or something...

A bigger problem would be timezones. One party would always be super-tired.

I'm going to be back in school soon, and won't have Brawl access. So, I'm afraid I'm out.

In a reverse situation of ZG's, I won't be able to use Wi-fi on Brawl freely until I get back to my college apartment. So, take your sweet time to start this.

The problem isn't WiFi, ZG just can't take her Wii with her.

My school has it's own Wi-Fi system, but it tends to be bad for game systems. I've heard the dorm I'm going into gets good reception, so we'll see. I don't want to buy another USB converter to lose again, so if wifi doesn't work don't expect me on for a while.

^That's true, actually; campus networks are not kind to consoles. It's very hard to configure without a standard browser (Firefox/IE/whateverthedefaultMacbrowseris).

Either way, I don't have the console, so meh.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
