Or is it just something that those few people make up to rationalize why other people are beating them in these "tournaments". Seriously, the tournament footage I've seen on youtube of Melee doesn't even look fun. Tiers are stupid, especially for games like SSBB (not Melee, which I consider broken in some respects) in which there are so many different possibilities with the presence of items, smash balls, dymanic levels, etc....but oh em gee you can't play with items or on non-challenging levels cuz that would throw a wrench in teh high level of play and tehtierlistwouldbeshottohell. ![]() |

Baseball, Football, Soccer are all equal parts Skill and Luck. Takeing Luck OUT doesn't make you "Pro" it makes you a n00b. You might get juggled by a Lion Tamer in G&W, but you might also get trapped underneath when you recover on Final Destination. BOTH ARE LUCK! |

If I get trapped underneath on FD, it's not like the game said "Nope, not today!"...I just effed it up. I'm curious though, as to what you consider "luck" in the sports you mentioned. You can't just throw blanket statements out like that. ![]() |

A very loose example would be to say, a country having top-notch medical facilities but is only accessible to its ruler and a few subjects. Or something. |

I want to eliminate the variance that affects those kinds of matches when I do that. You do realize that the people that consistently beat me with those things off will very likely still consistently beat me with them on, right?I get what you're saying SML, but... this is an extreme example, but if there was a character made of cardboard with weak attacks and few combos, the top player for that character probably would never be able to beat the top Mario players. They might beat several other Marios, though. Between the existing characters, this still applies, although it seems to be extremely close... way closer than in SSBM probably. But yeah, it doesn't matter at all to most people, so basically everyone here is free to ignore any rankings or lists like that. |
