Character Classes

Let's talk about character types. Or, more specifically, how you classify character types. Any particular system you use? Here's mine:

(Before you whine, please note that the 'examples' given are NOT meant to be exhaustive lists. Also, it is completely possible for one character to fit multiple classes.)

Speedsters: All about motion, these ones. Sometimes they can be predictable, but that doesn't mean you react fast enough to block the attack you know is coming. Often they're cherry-tapper extraordinaires.
Examples: Fox, Captain Falcon, Sonic, Sheik, Zero-Suit

Bruisers: All about muscle, these ones. Maybe they don't move the fastest (or maybe they do), but if they hit you, you WILL regret it.
Examples: Ganondorf, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, Snake

Swordsmen: All about metal, these ones. Their extra reach gets annoying quickly to everyone who isn't carrying a blade.
Examples: Marth, Link, Roy, Pit, Ike

Gunners: All about munitions, these ones. Give them an inch, they'll take a mile...& then they'll shoot you from a mile away.
Examples: Samus, Snake, Link, Ness, Mewtwo

Chaos Soldiers: All about mayhem, these ones. You really don't know what's coming next ('cause sometimes they don't, either). This is my favorite character type.
Examples: Luigi, Mr. G&W, Wario, Olimar, Sonic

Jacks: All about mediumness, these ones. The all-arounders, the "balanced" characters. They do a little bit of everything.
Examples: Mario, Pit, Falco, Wolf, Lucas

Birds: All about....I can't think of a word starting with M that means 'flight,' but you get the idea. They like their air game.
Examples: Kirby, Jigglypuff, Peach, Meta Knight, Dedede

Masochists: These guys have a thing for pain, I guess. Don't forget to account for that when you use them.
Examples: Pichu, Lucario, Roy, Ike, Mr. G&W (in Melee)

This isn't all of the ones I do, but I have to go at the moment. Feel free to discuss.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Hmm. I'm used to categorizing most characters by weight class, with the heaviest and lightest on opposite sides of the scale.

Other than that, I haven't put too much thought into it.

As long as they aren't organized into tiers, I don't care what classifications they are organized under.

The point here is to think about ways of grouping other than tiers.

I know. I know. The obvious retarded joke was sitting there, and I couldn't help myself.

It's because I'm stupid. Don't mind me

I guess my favorite is the Chaos Soldiers.

My favorite characters are ones with a medium weight. Wario's kinda weird about his weight, though. He attacks like a heavyweight, but his jump and decent is reminicent of Jigglypuff. And he runs like a medium. It's almost like he fluctuates his mass.

Wario fluctuates his mass...

Flight= Multidimensional Movement.

One perk about being new to a game is not catagorizing people that much.

Awsome and cute at the same time: Pikachu.
Others: Others.

I usually split all characters into Fast, Heavy, Brute, Nuisance, Chainer (or Setup), and Counter.

Peach and Marth fit into more categories than any one character should.
