And this game still holds up.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I remember renting the game with my brother and sister when it first came out. We had so much fun with it.

I would always try to unlock the four secret characters and the Mushroom Kingdom stage before we had to return the rental. I only ever got Jigglypuff and Captain Falcon as far as characters, though.

I was using the PSX until I saw this.

I traded in all my PSX stuff and got an N64 just to play this game.

And I've never stopped playing Ninty things until recently.

I remember getting excited over the commercials back in third grade. How couldn't I? Mario and Donkey Kong along with a bunch of other guys in a fighting game! Awesome!
I remember visiting my best friend's house many times that summer so I could play it. I didn't get the game myself until that fall.
Smash 64 introduced me to a lot of games I had never heard of: F-Zero, Metroid, Earthbound, and Kirby.

Hm. This means Mario's been my main for a whole decade. Wow.
I miss his fair in this game.

Same here, except I had already had a Kirby game.

I wish I still had this game. I gave it to a friend and he never gave it back. If Ninty would hurry up and put it on VC...

^^You have to beat the first 8 "Break the Targets".

"Happy Together" = Best. Video game. Commercial. Of. Ever.

This game introduced me to Metroid and Earthbound, and was so much fun for all of us to play.

My friends and I play it in my dorm any chance we get now.

Can never beat Samus's, though.

I sure loved this game, plain and simple. I wasted more time on the Smash and Pokemon games than I care to think about. But I still can't wait for SSB4 and Gen 5 of PKMN...

This game should be released on VC with online play, along with Melee. But it would likely interfere with Brawl, so they will never do it.

BIFF

It will be a while for GC games to be on the VC. But this game should be on there.

It was a nice game. I like it's sequels better, though.

I wonder who came up with the premise for this game.

"Ok, yeah, let's make a fighting game. With Nintendo characters. But not like other fighting games. Let's make it, you know, funner. And wilder."

Think I read an interview with Sakurai saying something like that.

"Dragon King: the Fighting Game"

It's also been said that Final Smashes were originally gonna be in this game. I can't help but wonder how those would've looked.

I remember hating it for the N64 controller, More Mario/Pokemon pimping, and for not being Fatal Fury.

The years later I finally played it and fell in love.
