Fish gotta swim, & apparently so do SSB characters, at least as of Brawl. So, now that we have a swimming mechanic in a fighting game, do you think it could be developed further & used more? I have this mental image of an Mario-themed stage looking like SMB level 2-2, with Blooper & Cheep-Cheep hazards. Ooh, or even make it work sort of like Castle Siege, changing between the 2-2 underwater & the 2-3 bridge (yes, with those gorram flying Cheeps!). Also, in Brawl, everyone has the same swimming ability. Infinite-lung Mario, space-suit Olimar, tiny-swim-meter Toon Link, & air-bubble-breathing Sonic can all tread for the same length of time before drowning. That could be changed, though; each character could have swimming skill become one of their statistics, like weight & speed already are. Squirtle & Charizard make pretty obvious extreme ends of that scale. What say ye all? And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

If it did, I would imagine it would introduce a whole new dimension to the combat. An idea that popped into my head was perhaps instead of swimming, having fighters sink to the bottom and walk around, jump and attack as if they were on dry land, with water only acting as a medium that slows movement slightly. Maybe there could be a Gravity Suit pickup (like the Franklin Badge or Screw Attack) that lets you move around underwater without being slowed down. |

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

I'm not a huge fan of being slowed down by water levels. |

Say Megaman in in the next Smash Bros game. A Megaman themed level is Bubble Man's stage, which works somewhat like the Mushroomy Kingdom, scrolling left to right, with the occasional robot hazzard, as well as spikes on the ceiling that damage you, except in a few places where you can knock your opponent off the top. super high jumping included. |

Water does slow people down, but it also allows for bigger jumping. (Or I might be completely off the mark with what you meant.) And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |
