Tolkein and use a big-ass post to describe details your character(s) cannot see. And let's not forget the people who see that you made a bad post and they actually stop to correct you. Even when you're given a character to get you into a setting and you have no idea what the hell is going on. (It helps when someone notices you're not doing anything due to all the people making private RPs and you're just wondering why you're still there instead of leaving.) Oh yes, actually helping to improve your character! See in one setting, where almost everyone's using weapons given to them by gods or enchanted by divinity and people are doing stuff like holding 200lb double-bladed scythes with one hand or twisting reality because they are given the ability to use Threads of Fate by a god because they're going to eventually become ag od themselves....obviously my guy stands out. Because I'm the only one who's NOT in some kind of romantic relationship, distantly related to divinity or just given insane godpowers that are able to break stuff and kill almost every mortal. Just some average joe who shouldn't even be picking up weapons because he only uses magic and it makes no sense for someone with his combat ability to be in the front-lines unless he was suicidal. Then they decide to help improve his ability and try NOT to make him a mage knight since it wouldn't be balanced for a Blue Mage like him to be able to take a million hits and be able to memorize any magic that comes his way. (I like the idea of Blue Mages being keen observers.) ...or survive the ****ing vacuum of space. And lessee, someone who tries to include people in every arc! You know, so you don't get some Kuwabara/Krillin standing behind. |
