| Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Mad Science Academy, 12th Floor Gender: Posts: 1,125 Thanks: 185 Thanked 97 Times in 60 Posts | Closed Captioning and subtitles Maybe not to most of you, but to the hearing-impared (like yours truly, whose hearing has been on a steady decline since childhood) it's a blessing. Being able to watch TV shows and movies and being able to understand what everyone is saying without turning up the volume too high is great. Same goes with subtitles on DVDs and video games. Which makes me mad when they don't have them, like in the case of the Homestar Runner DVDs. And even those who can hear well may get a chuckle from the occasional glitch in the captions (such as rendering "we belong together" as "we bong together" much to my dad's amusement) So yeah, captions and subtitles are awesome. If only to me. |

I never watch foreign films in poorly-dubbed English, I always use subtitles. Sometimes I'll watch dubbed anime (no crappy fandubbing, though). Also, closed captioning is fun. Sometimes I'll turn it on the TV just for the fudge of it. |
