It wins best in genre, at the very least. Reading up on the history, critical reviews, and people's memories makes me want to play it again.

As strange as this sounds, I didn't feel it was as excellent as people call it. Still a great game and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had played it earlier without those DS-extras.

Side-note: Lavos was creepy. Gotta give them a thumbs up for managing to make any moment with this creature horrifying.

^ Lavo's screech is the scariest sound ever emitted by the SNES, especially during the "bad ending".

I loved this game. If it wasn't for FF6, it'd be my favorite RPG and favorite SNES game ever.

rar how dare they trample on my memories

The DS extras were kind of garbage. The PSX cutscenes were cool, but the monster arena was tripe and the extra dungeons were a bunch of boring backtracking.
