Muggle Quidditch

Yes, you read that right. Quidditch. With muggles. And awesomeness. Essentially ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, soccer, and basketball mix together, and then pumped with steroids. Best. Sport. Ever.

Yeah...except not. Nice try, though.

Beaters stand in a box near their keeper's goalposts. One starts with the bludger, the other is bludgerless. When the opposing team comes near, the beater throws the ball (think dodgeball). If they hit a person, that person must run to the middle of the field and touch the cone signifying half-field. If that person is in possession of the quaffle at the time, they must give the quaffle to the other team.

After the bludger is thrown, it is then retrieved by the OTHER beater (the one who didn't throw it); they hold on to it until they return to their box, and then it is their turn to throw with the other beater retrieving it.

If you have two people with really good aim and who are quick, these can be really effective on defense.

Overall, the game is surprisingly well-balanced. Everyone plays an important role, and the snitch is modified to not be an absolute game break (...yeah, I said it, Rowling).

So Calvinball, then.

But that doesn't mean this game sucks. Hell count me in I'll play. -CSM

Yeah, except Calvinball has no rules...which makes this nothing like Calvinball.

He endeavors to score by dashing between the creases, provided the wicket keeper hasn’t whipped his bails off, mm'course.

Try hearing Quidditch described for the first time through Sean Biggerstaff's accent & see how much sense it makes.

The first time I heard someone say 'quidditch' out loud, I thought they were mispronouncing 'cribbage'. Then Brad Neely came out with "Wizard People, Dear Reader", in which he deliberately mispronounced 'quidditch' as 'cribbage', and I was all, 'hey, fearful symmetry'.

After your first sentence, I was gonna tell you to watch "Wizard People, Dear Reader." Then I kept reading.

So, now I'm gonna tell everyone else they should watch Wizard People, Dear Reader.
