New laptop!

After nearly five and a half years of a quickly-deteriorating Dell E1505, I finally have a new laptop. Setting up new stuff is so exciting.

Also, I am no longer using XP, which has pretty much been what I'm using for the past ten years. Which means that literally 2/3 of my computer-using life has been with XP. As much as I liked it, Windows 7 is looking promising.

Yes, that means I did not go with a Mac. Macs are so conformist.

Just curious, but how much did you pay for it? I'm looking into getting a new laptop.

The laptop was $700, but it was on a huge sale since they're trying to clear out certain models before Black Friday.

So my new laptop has something called Beats Audio which is supposed to be awesome but I'm pretty sure they just slapped a picture of Dr. Dre by the logo so-HOLY CRAP THIS SOUNDS AMAZING!

Oh wait, it turns out that Beats Audio is done by the same people who make Monster cables. Makes sense.

I love how people think that Beats by Dre are like the highest quality headphones ever, when my Philips headphones that I use are the same quality and roughly $360 cheaper.

How ironic. My Dell just bit the dust. Luckily if I can get the right parts out of it I can fire up my Asus FOR REALZ THIS TIME.

I don't have Beats headphones, but I do notice a marked improvement in the computer's sound over my last computer. Not surprised that the wiring is done by Monster.
