| Needle in the Hay | God bless any American company that's actually generous enough to release Asian films in America, but they really I will donate to VGF.I will donate to VGF.I will donate to VGF.I will donate to VGF. up the movies. Things they often do that really I will donate to VGF.I will donate to VGF.I will donate to VGF.I will donate to VGF.ing annoy me: 1. Present the film only with English dubs, without the option of the original language with English subtitles. 2. Re-do the soundtrack with an Americanized score. Americanized scores are corny, and are partially the reason why 99% of American action flicks pale in comparison to their Asian counterparts. 3. Cutting over 20 minutes of film out of the movie. The average American who would find those 20 minutes boring would probably not be interested in seeing that movie in the first place. Oh, wait, but that's who you're trying to appeal to, isn't it. 4. Change the title of the film 36 times. 5. Or better yet, give it the wrong title. (One American DVD release packaged as The Thirty-Sixth Chamber of Shaolin is actually Return to the Thirty-Sixth Chamber.) 6. Format the DVD for a full screen, but still present the movie with letterboxes. This is a problem when viewing the movie on a wide screen monitor. 7. Give it a crappy treatment, with piss-poor quality sound, an extremely dim picture, and having little to no special features. (Any DVD that lists "Interactive Menus" as a special feature on the back of its case is a bad sign.) |
