The Writers' Strike

Ok so for the most part, this strike doesn't really affect me too much...most scripted TV shows nowadays are crime dramas and sad excuses for "sitcoms", but there is one show in particular that is affected by this recent development.

I'm greatly anticipating the upcoming fourth season of Lost, but annoyed that only the first 8 of 16 episodes will be aired because the stupid TV executives won't man up and talk to the writers (they probably should get a bigger cut of the pie, with the online streaming and all). Argh, I've been waiting since May for this show to come back and I'm only going to be half satisfied.

(Even though these 8 episodes are apparently amazing)

Considering most of what Hollywood makes nowadays is sub-par, I really don't see what the big deal is. -CSM

Thing is, CSM, that the writers on the good shows are in the same boat as the writers on the bad shows when it comes to stuff like this. Unless you're a big name, you share the same fate as everyone else, sink or swim.

Here are the things causing the strike:
1) The good writers deserve a better share of the royalties from DVD sales, but they can only get this if all of the writers get it.
2) ALL of the writers deserve some royalites (as opposed to the none that they're currently getting) from online sales.

As far as I'm concerned, if the writers get this contract, then that will be the second positive result of this strike. The first positive result can be summed up in four words...

And remember, "AMERICAN GLADIATORS IS BACK!!!"

The lack of Lost has made me enjoy Heroes more. I'm sure as soon as Lost comes back on, I'll be hooked again, but as for now, I'm a Heroes fan.

Oh, and yay for BB9!
