Best Buy

Well, you think they're bad enough with their shenanigans in the news, but then... then something comes along to cause some more chaos!

So I reserve Super Smash Bros Brawl, right? The suckers place a hold on it for $54 every 7 days. Sounds reasonable.

The bank's holds last 10 days, however, so for 3 days (4 if it lags) that doubles to $108. Now, I may not strike you as being particularly poor, but in our current condition that hampers the card's usefulness severely and may or may not prevent us from buying food, gasoline, or other essentials.

So we call them up. First person we talk to doesn't know anything and has to be hung up on. Second guy explains this policy. Nobody, anywhere, says anything other than "Get the bank to call us", however it is most obvious the bank doesn't call them, as it's not their job to tell Best Buy to stop holding more money than they should.

It just was so absurd I had to cancel the preorder and get it pre-ordered (with CASH) from a brick-n-mortar Gamestop store.

But get this! The holds won't go away for 3-7 days anyway, even though we cancelled it!

I suggest anyone preordering from Best Buy online... ...not do so.

I preodered Brawl from Best-Buy, and the only problem I've had is that they cancel the order when it gets delayed. Nothing about holding fees.

Gamestop was good when I preordered GH3.

Plus, they had a tournament.

It was fun watching people who were better than me beat the **** out of me.

The only beef I have with Best Buy is that customer service can be a little s**tty. My dad and I went there once to pick up a computer we'd put on reserve. I swear we stood in line for ten minutes before anyone helped us.

"But Dylan, maybe they were busy."

Here's the punch line: there were about 15 people behind the desk doing absolutely goddamn nothing. Someone would periodically come by and be all, "Hey, do you need help?" and then try to get someone to help us, who would conveniently say, "Oh...well, I'm busy right now." Horses**t, man.

I don't use customer service at Best Buy anymore. Dudes on the floor are pretty cool, though.

Yeah. I've had a mixed experience with Best Buy, really, as they usually hold in one hand good stock availability, and on the other, "We don't care if we hold all kinds of your credit money"

That's weird that they cancelled your preorder when you got delayed. They just kept on holding our money in our case.

Not every bestbuy has crappy customer service. I love bestbuy personally and have never had a problem with them. The customer service has also helped me decide what to get and they can usually point you in the right direction of things you need. Maybe my bestbuy got the smart people.

^You have to be lying. Most people who work at BestBuy nowadays are trained in electronics. It sounds like you have sooo many bad stories from them, but maybe your lying or the BestBuy you keep going to just sucks.

Damnations. I filled out an application for BestBuy, but was rejected for not being 'surly enough'.

Not all Best Buy people are equal in technical knowledge. Therefore he can be telling the truth.

Wheras you would have to be lying if you claimed all Best Buy people were trained in electronics.

I can remember when I bought a computer from Best Buy because I liked the deal. The sales guy kept trying to talk to my mom, like she was buying it. He was trying to talk her into buying a battery-backup surge protector. I just looked at it funny and stated that I didn't need anything like that. I'm not going to work on something important in a thunderstorm. The damn things cost something like 150-200 USD, anyway.

I prefer CompUSA, at least back in Cleveland. Best Buy has really gone downhill.

The type of videogames I play are not sold at Best Buy. See that top rank in the short list under my name? That's how I roll.
