| VGF's Resident Lennonist | Ethnocentrism I don't think I have to do much explaining as to why ethnocentrism sucks. My personal beliefs are that people across all cultures are generally the same, than within each group subdivision of humanity there is a large amount of heterogeneity, and that cultural exchange is of great value, and something to be cherished. When a person judges the entire world from their own culture's standards and traditions, they associate a difference in development with a lack of development, and this is very dangerous thinking. |

| Senior Member | Well.....As long as you don't force it on others, then it's fine... ---- [It's a slippery slope. Even if you don't impose it on others, if you're constantly thinking about the world through your cultures perspective alone, it won't help but eventually spill over into your behavior towards others, IMO. ~SML] Last edited by Swordmaster Link; 07-29-2008 at 03:22 PM. |
