It really irritates me when really good stories only have a handful of reviews, and pure crap stories break the 100-200 mark.

You know things are bad when you see stories about James Potter having sex with his son Harry. WTF? Besides the disgusting idea of a man sleeping with his teenaged son, why even bother making it a fan fic. The whole idea destroys the reality of the story, making a world where James is alive and happy along with Harry, and the most interesting thing they do is have sex.

And there was a story I read that involved Sirius being pregnant with Lupin's baby?

Rules of fan fiction: everyone is secretly gay. Sex comes moments after admitting your love for a person. No matter how bad it is, somebody will like it.

The overwhelming majority of fanfiction is trite garbage written by people who don't have any writing ability. And the very few fics that are any damn good (stories that would still be enjoyable even if they weren't connected to X game or Y anime) could just as easily be recast as original stories. Fanfiction is necessarily lesser for being based on someone else's work.

Know why?

Many of those pure crap stories have fanservice, which is what many people are actually LOOKING for when they think of "Fanfiction". The same can be applied with some fantasy stories as well.

And let's not forget...many of those stories with loads of reviews have stuff like:

"That is awesome!"
"Do more please!"
"*unintelligble babbling*"
"MEWTWO x EDD YAOI FOREVER!" (<-- I'm not making that up.)

Or Lupus-ish people who write comments like:

"You suck"
"That sux. Stop writing please."
"One point off for your writing style."
"You blow."
"You fail at life"

or any flaming comment in general and then they say "It's Constructive Criticism!". Or people who just go post "You suck, give up on writing" without even reading a story because they want to troll the author.

Mainly, I dislike any fanfic that has to do with slash fiction or anything sexual which has no business being in there or that involves abject stupidity, a lack of spelling, and grammatical death.

So, you could say I hate all fanfiction that isn't the top 1% of all fanfiction ever.

If anyone here has ever been the adult fiction net (and for your sake I hope you haven't!) then you'd see the following 'categories' of couples in the Harry Potter section. The fact that it has their own category means that multiple people have thought and written about this. Beware, this could scar you for life:

And you know what's extra "Double-eew Tee Eff" about that? Harry Potter's actually pretty tame compared to how bad some other fandoms get. Of course, everybody knows how bad Gundam, Sailor Moon, and Sonic fandoms can get.

And if you think Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy 7, and Mega Man fandom is as bad as it gets...you haven't even scratched the surface of the horror's you'll find in Sonic Fanfics. (Though Kingdom Hearts has gotten pretty bad in the more recent years)
