Fanfiction can be good, don't get me wrong. But over 75% of fanfiction is absolutely HORRIBLE. 1. Love stories: Love stories can be good, but ONLY if it has to do with the ****ing thing it's based off. If the two characters you're making the story about hate each other's guts, they're probably NOT going to hook up any time soon, if at all. Megatron and Optimus Prime aren't going to have sex any time soon. Neither are Neville Longbottom and Bellatrix Lestrange. I also hate that if the mortal enemies are the pairing, they'll suddenly switch from fighting to having sex. "I am going to kill you for what you've done to innocent people!" *five minutes later* "I just realized how beautiful you are. Let's have sex!" I'm pretty sure that that never happens. EVER. 2. Putting a bunch of characters into something that already exists. Seriously, today I read a fanfiction called "SSB Jeopardy." It was almost WORD FOR WORD with a Celebrity Jeopardy skit. The only difference was names. Please, if you're going to make a story, make it original! 3. NARUTO MOTHER****ING STORIES: It's amazing how many of these things exist. I'd put this in the first spot, but they fail so much, I'm putting them in here. SASUKExNARUTO. WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH YOU? What are they, fourteen? And there are millions (not an exaggeration) of stories involving them having sex. WHAT THE ****? What kind of sick mind do you have that you make tons of stories involving sex between fourteen year old boys? That's ****ing horrible! 4. Pairings that don't make sense: Again, I'd put this in the first spot, but this is also too much failure for that spot. I've seen LinkxYoung Link stories. NOT ONLY is it a story about an adult having sex with a small child, it's a story about an adult having sex with a small child who also happens to be himself from a previous time. Can you say "time paradox?" If you're making this story, you have less of a brain than the SasukexNaruto makers. I probably have more rants, but I'm to tired to think of them. |

Edit: Ah, I remember one I was going to talk about. I'll get to that soon. |

Because a good writer can pull most stuff off - it's the bad one's who have the lame plots, horrible structure/grammar, nonsensical pairings, etc. Granted, 75% of all fanfiction is written by 14 year-olds just fresh in high school, so naturally they lack knowledge of decent writing. |

I'm wicked good at coming up with ideas, characters, and side-stories that fit almost perfectly with the intial story, I just can't write worth ****. Therefore I have never written a story, nor do I plan to, so I have just contirbuted absolutely nothing to the thread at all accept for the fact that you will never be complaining about me. |

They've seen each other, what, once?), but a lot does hinge on writer's ability. I once read an Animorphs/Pokémon cross; quite frankly, it was once of the coolest ideas I'd ever heard.* But the kid who did it was awful; the actual plot was nonexistent, neither side of the crossover was done justice, and the entire structure was clearly ripped off of a Megamorphs book. And remember, "I'm-a Aximili, numb-ber-rrrr w-wonn!" *(Seriously, think about Rachel as an Ursaring. All the good-ol' grizzly stuff, plus a frikin' laser shooting out of her mouth!) |

I can't seem to find ANY good fanfiction lately. I used to read quite a bit of fanfiction, but I can't seem to find any fanfiction that's worth my time anywhere. It's hard to find fanfiction with 'pairings' I like or fanfiction that isn't just about two characters getting together. I feel like a lot of the fanfiction out there is pretty much the same thing over and over again with the names changed and the situations slightly different. Maybe my tastes have changed. Maybe all the old (good) writers quit and moved on in life. All I know is that many writers out there should READ their work and THINK about it before they put it out. |

I used to be part of a fanfic site...I've deleted a lot of my stories because, they were just bad writing and awkward dialogue (Though sometimes I did it to make fun of bad translations). I got chased out by Fanboys and fangirls who thought I was horrible, would only give me Destructive Criticism, and wanted me to add sex and yaoi pairings. (The next time I see Luke x Asch I swear I'm going to...)

Some of my old stuff is still lingering around Fanfiction.net, too- same name, Selene Starblade. A few Ranma fics, a MMX fic, and a few bits of junk an' garbage. Fairly old, though- once I started getting into MMO's and BBS's and all those other wonderful acronyms that stand for interactive imaginary activity, rather than solo imaginary activity, I really just ran out of will to do stuff all lonely-like. Yeah, it's more fun with other people...... usually. Also, Colonel Sanders rules. Secret recipie for whoop ass! Hehehe. |

Bonus if you're writing a slash-fic, because the people who read those don't, like, read books anyways, so they can't tell it's garbage. What I kind of hate is how people use dialogue format instead of paragraph format. Just, like, pages of Quote:

I could say opposite that that (good) fanfics are harder to write because it requires you to have a full understanding of said characters and you must write them so that they stay in character. Often times, authors forget to do this.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |
