People who buy cigarettes aren't defenseless or being taken advantage of. They're adults, who make a conscious decision to smoke. Similarly, tobacco industry executives aren't evil masterminds trying to irradicate the human race. They're just businessmen selling another thing that people want. Now, I don't smoke, and I'd prefer people didn't. But most of these anti-smoking commercials come off more as anti-tobacco industry commercials. It's just the way most of these commercials are made that irritates me. I don't care is one tobacco executive weaseled his way into his position, that has nothing at all to do with smoking, and there are people in other industries who have done far worse things. Should we boycott those, too? |

Remember, you have a choice! A choice to say no. * I stress the quotations mark here since there is an astronaut in there. Apparently you need to be the equivalent of a NASA scientist to be considered good in the Anti-Tobacco world. |

"It's not a drink, more of a shot"...which any barkeep will tell you is a drink. I always thought the point of the "Truth" commercials was to attack the major tobacco companies. Get enough people pissed off at them to kill their marketing, make smoking uncool to kids who don't already do it ("hey, do you wanna buy something made by a bunch of heartless liars who don't care whether you live or die?"), that sort of thing. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |
