Dammit! Don't tell me that I'm too young to understand what I'm saying, or that I'm just spewing what my parents have been saying! I'm of near genius IQ level, possibly much higher than yours, and I'm too young to understand what I'm saying? F**k you! ![]() |

You're perfectly intelligent, they're just using your age to hide their incompetence from you. I remember the varying amounts of vengeance I enacted on those who said I was 'too young' when I got old enough. Yeah. Turns out they had just been hiding their weakness behind it. While sometimes it's true (usually for things young people shouldn't know about yet) on average it's just ageism. |

I can understand not believing he was the son of God, but he was here. Right in the middle of the argument they say (verbatim), "F*ck you dude, you're too young to know what the f*ck you're even talking about you're just spitting out what ur parents told you to say" They left shortly after, which leads me to believe that I won the argument. Not to say that it would really be that much of a victory... |

I mean, Jesus would've been around 2000 years ago, and you're, what, fifteen years old? That's leagues different; leagues, columns, digits, colours. Srsly tho, the fact that the other guy walked away swearing reveals a lack of empathy on your part, unless you were intentionally trying to insense the guy. Since you're Wile E. Coyote, super genius, I expect you to be able to manipulate the emotions of people weaker than you. Anyways, there are a few issues that people never* change their minds about: religion and politics are the big ones. It's fine enough to get their point of view, since everyone loves talking about themselves, but they don't want to listen to things that contradict what they already believe. It's human nature (e.g. Confirmation bias), and if you had less patience than the other guy, you'd be swearing too. ---- * By "never", I mean not through gentlemently conversation; more like through "born-again" crises. |

It's entirely true that younger people don't have as much experience, or indeed, as many years to acquire information. Of course, in the instance you've explained, he was just being a dick and you should ignore it. But I still make the recommendation not to let you're "genius level IQ" give you an unhealthy ego. Everyone can always learn more. ![]() And IQ tests are inaccurate and no professional uses them anymore, sorry. |

Yes I realize that it was a random chat, and I shouldn't get worked up, and yes I realise that I started to get a bit childish in my arguments as well. It just pisses me off when your opinion is completely voided, I can probably think of other cases, this one just kinda made me snap. I'm pretty much chill again, and don't care. I'm guessing it was just, "bottled up" emotion coming out all at once, but again I don't care now, just wanted to point out that it sucks... ^^Also, I never claimed to be a super genius, just a near genius (about 130), which I consider pretty high for a 15 year old. ^As far as ego is concerned, I'm at least a million times more humble than the average human being. ...Okay, I'm kidding, and you know it. I can usually talk my way out of this problem when it comes to religious stuff, though, and I always defer when it gets to be too much for me. |

Anyway, you shouldn't use your IQ as reason that your arguments are better than other peoples', or use IQ as a metric to compare people, because you're doing the same thing as that other guy in acting as though whose belief is right depends on who's smarter/more experienced. In addition, IQ is a measurement of skill in several cognitive areas (with questionable reliability), not an accurate measure of intelligence. Richard Feynman was one of the smartest scientists to ever live - on the same level as, say, Einstein or Tesla, and his IQ was 124. Which is ridiculous; mine is higher than that (yours might be too) but I'm far from being that smart. What I find similarly annoying is when someone dismisses something I believe as something I'll 'grow out of.' Especially a viewpoint they never themselves held or considered, much less grew out of, and one that you have to disadvantage yourself and/or explicity disagree with 90% of society and what you were taught when you were younger to hold. | |

But of course, being 'too young' usually isn't an automatic victory for the other person, who unless they have a genuine connection to why you are misunderstanding their argument, is generally just making an ad hominem argument. As for that argument you got into, that was a troll. Best reacted to by going "YOU'RE SO SMART INTERNET TROLL, YOU KNOW HOW TO STRING PROFANITY AND JESUS IN THE SAME SENTENCE. WHY, NO ONE COULD DO THAT AS WELL AS YOU, FOR THEY ALL GREW UP WHILE YOU WEREN'T LOOKING." Or just leaving the conversation, in your case, since you aren't an internet troll troller like I can be. ![]() |

Guess what the first words out of my parents' mouths were? And I had said that I did not like the Religion Confirmation "Brainwashing" I was put in so I was literally directly quoting the kinds of stuff they were saying, guess what my parents and sister said? That's right. "You're too young to have an opinion". And keep in mind I was 17, and my sister was confirmed at 14. |

God never said "o hai guyz, split up and kill each other over your own misinterpretation of my word kay?" IMO the Bible is supposed to be self-translated, as all the stories and situations you should apply to yourself, not to everybody else. It helps to look older than you do, because after you've had a few conversations with people and finally reveal your age, they're usually like "I would have never known". The oldest anyone has ever said I looked was 30. I gave them the people's eyebrow. |
