Update Firefox, program locks up in the first few minutes of using the new version

Try Safe Mode and disabling your extensions.

Could be extensions/plug-in incompatibility.

I've been using Chrome more than Mozilla lately though.

Netscape was where it was at.

I use the 64-bit Firefox, so I just update less often and am safe from forced updates. It's also faster than normal Firefox.

Yeah. The only thing good that came from Netscape was the Mozilla Foundation.
