ME 2 and 3 are in my top 10, and the first one comes soon after that, so I'm obviously counting the days. Especially since it's releasing almost on top of Persona 5 now. >_>
That said, if I know I'm going to buy a game, I avoid any and all information about it except review scores. So I don't actually have much to say about it besides that I want it and it's set in Andromeda, probably.
... Do I really want to say what I think about this game?
Not that it matters. One of the two roommates that don't go to this site will buy it day one regardless of its quality purely because you can bed the aliens. All I'll say is I wouldn't buy it even if I had Mass Effect 3 myself.
^ Romance option right?
I'm super excited for more Mass Effect, but I have no system on which to play it. Probably gonna have to wait until next gen so I can borrow someone's XBone or PS4 for an extended amount of time just for this game.
Totally lost on where that conversation is going. >_>
Ignoring everything about Mass Effect and just focusing on "lulz sex w/ teh alyenz" is sorta ridiculous
I'm not saying that's all that matters.
I'm saying that's the main reason she's buying them and no other.
Some previews have been suggesting it gets better, but the animation and writing teams really borked the beginning.
I'm oddly not bothered much by the prospect if it being abysmal, possibly because I found that video hilarious and don't have any attachment to the new story since I haven't been following coverage until now. Worst case scenario is I save $60, get some more time to finish Horizon and Nier before P5 lands, (or/and I finally find a Switch for sale) and then pretend the series ended with ME3. I'm obviously still hoping all of this doesn't represent the game as a whole, but I'm so swamped with games at the moment that pretending it never happened won't be very hard if it really is this bad.
Looks like a low-budget RPG.
It dives right into the uncanny valley. Mostly due to the fact that most of Bioware's old staff has left and it's now filled with people who don't know what they're doing.
I'm hoping the gameplay at least makes up for how this looks. somehow.
On a sour note, people see blood in the water and act like ****heads. ffs
Oh man, here we go.
I love having my life judged entirely around whether or not I buy a game. It's great. No other reason to get up in the morning.
I'm not even clicking that.
^It's an official tweet from BioWare saying (paraphrased): "somebody was misidentified as a lead developer on the game, & also don't be a prick to people".
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
Ehh, I am being cautious about Andromeda. I loved the original trilogy but pretty much all of the old Bioware team has quit as someone else has said. The current Bioware is really pretty much EA. And that is enough to worry me. I think I will wait to see what reviewers I trust say about the game. Actual reviewers, not large companies like IGN who are paid to say a certain game is a 10/10.
The 100% official novelization.
The reviews I've read so far seem to suggest the gameplay is pretty decent and the writing pretty crap, which is backwards for BioWare. Sounds like I'll be getting it when Origin does its summer sale.
Still, this just gives me an excuse to play Zero Escape: The Nonary Games, which I've just remembered comes out on Friday, instead.
Which, if we're being honest, is probably what would've happened even if Andromeda had been great. Hard to argue with two of the three best games ever.
Was able to get it 20% off (I totally would've made it to summer if the internet could stop showing me unintentionally funny clips for 10 seconds. That's my weak spot >_>), and while the faces aren't quite as bad as the selective montages above show, the writing is absolutely that bad. My favorite exchange so far:
I'm not going to regret my lack of restraint if it stays at that level, and the eventual postmortems on how that kind of garbage was allowed to be written and why all of the execs at EA and BioWare went full steam ahead in spite of its obvious issues will be fascinating.
If you give the main character a different face it's much better.
By the by, we have it. Didn't get to see too much (someone else is playing it by the by.) but the writing does bug me quite a bit. There's also the detective mode for this game you use to examine stuff which I've more or less grown to despise as a mechanic. I didn't see much of the combat though.
