Posted July 12, 2004 -- We knew her as "Weezy." But to those she is leaving behind, actress Isabel Sanford is better known as mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sanford died Friday of natural causes at age 86 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She had been in the hospital since July 4 due to poor health resulting from neck surgery she underwent last year to repair an artery. Daughter Pamela Ruff was reportedly by her side when she passed.

Sanford is best known as Louise "Weezy" Jefferson the pragmatic wife of TV blowhard George on the 1975 hit “The Jeffersons,” a spin-off of “All in Family” where Sanford had a bit role. She and Sherman Hemsely found prime-time success with the show which had them as a class-climbing couple in the cleaners business. Though initially a Broadway actress, the TV role was momentous for Sanford who, in 1981, became the first Black woman to win a Best Actress Emmy for her comedic role.

However, the 10-year run for the show was not the New York native’s first encounter with fame. Sanford played a disapproving maid in “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” the Sidney Poitier film that became a touchstone for Hollywood’s discussion of interracial relationships. She also had small roles in “Lady Sings the Blues” and the Blaxploitation reunion film, “Original Gangstas.”

More recently, Sanford had appeared with Hemsely in Old Navy commercials and also gave the voice of her animated counterpart in the hit TV show, “The Simpsons.” Sanford is survived by one daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

I don't know where he got it from all I can say is this:

And, For the news thing, that's just where we go sometimes, usually I go to vote for 106 and Park, and see news, that's possibly the same with Andre
