Boobie was actually hurt in a preseason game, Permian's final game was played in Texas Stadium, not the Astrodome, etc... If you read the book, the movie was a major major dissapointment. The movie was made about the team, more specifically 4 players, while the book is about the town of Odessa, Texas and how they glorify these 17 year olds who have the weight of a whole town on their shoulders. Plus, they never had any shot anywhere near similar to the beautiful picture on the front of the book and on the movie posters, of the team captains walking out onto the field under the heavenly glow of the friday night lights. So what you ended up with was a typical football movie with over emphasized bone crushing hits on every play and halftime speeches that were obviously trying to be with the other great speeches like in Rudy and Hoosiers.
