I wholeheartedly (and sadly) agree with most of that (and I mean the innuendo, not taking it litterally you dork) except for the rule about 26 episodes.

Personally, I think a good, deep show should be, in general, around two seasons - maybe three. Anymore is just running with the gag past the finish line. 26 episodes is ore than enough to have a damn good series that can be remembered as a damn good series and not "the one that used to be good until got old".

26 episodes is barely over one season for most American shows.
Besides, "a good, deep show" shouldn't be so dependant on one gag that it would burn out like that.
