Family is shakey at the moment, but I think they should be given some slack do to the fact that they were cancled for quite some time. |

I'm not sure when they 'jumped the shark' so to speak, but of the last few seasons there were only a few jokes I liked, and the episodes weren't very well written. |

I don't even see that many similarities, besides Peter and Lois, whose relationship is kind of like Homer and Marge's. Aside from that, they're totally different. ^^ Those aren't very helpful: I have no idea which season is the 1999 season, since I get them a lot later here. I think the last episode I saw was the Treehouse of Horror one from season 16. |

Season 12 was the last truly brilliant season. Family Guy and The Simpsons are two completely different shows. Peter and Homer are two completely different people. Homer is much more hyper than Peter is. Peter is Catholic, while Homer isn't. Homer does not maintain good relations with his neighbors, Peter does. Bart is a troublemaker, Chris is an artsy boy. Lisa is smart, and we don't know how Meg does in school. The police on The Simpsons are bumbly and corrupt, while Family Guy actually has good cops. Possibly the biggest similarities I see is between Maggie and Stewie, as both seem to be intellegent babies, and between the Bouviers and the Pewterschmits (both hate the husbands). Every time a cartoon about a suburban family comes out, comparisons always have to be made to The Simpsons. It's not like The Simpsons have to be the ONLY cartoon that's about the average suburban family. And this isn't just Family Guy. King of the Hill gets this too. It was Stewie who really turned me on to Family Guy. I KNEW when I first saw the show that this and The Simpsons were NOTHING alike. Thank you for listening to my long story. -CSM |

One is more a prop than anything and only falls down every one in a while, whereas the other one is a diabloical, mother-hating, closet-homosexual evil genius, who speaks with a British accent. |

But I'm not sure whether the episode where she killed a bunch of mobster was Treehouse of Horror (i.e. out of the normal Simpsons universe) or not. |
