Captain N: The Game Master

For any of you idiots who were, like me, unfortunate enough to watch this series back in the late eighties when it reared its ugly head, and are, unlike me, unfortunate enough to cherish fond memories of the series, this is probably the best news you'll hear for the next few minutes or so--'Captain N: The Game Master' is going to be brought out on DVD. Check it out now, funk soul brother.

Captain N wasn't THAT bad.

Yeah, they took a few liberties (OK, A LOT of liberties), but it was still entertaining.

I liked the show a lot when I was a kid. Mega Man was always my favourite. Not so much that I'd buy it on DVD though.

I was exaggerating for comedic effect. To tell the truth, I think 'Captain N' was one of the better kids' shows of the period. (Better than 'Masters of the Universe', or goddamned 'Captain Planet', anyway.)

Hey, Master of the Universe is one of THE 80s cartoons.

It's basically that, Transformers, and GI-Joe that ruled the airwaves (and my TV) during that decade.

If you thought the MotU cartoon was retarded you should see the movie. I like Dolph Lundgren, but that was my first experience with him and it almost landed him below Schwarzenegger on my "Actors I Hate" list (I like Arnie's acting skills, but whenever I see his face I always want to throw my shoe at it).

The only Captain N I've seen are some piss poor quality tapes. Observe:

"Hey, Kevin. What's with all these pretty colors?"

I think that's Simon.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what the hell is going on here.

Faceless people.

I think it's a "show fades out to characters laughing" gag.

The fact we're looking at the horrible incarnation of Mega Man makes me wish the picture quality of this one DID suck.

As for what I could make of the show, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't exactly great either. Would've liked it if the first few episodes didn't look for any reason they could to have Simon take off his clothes. Mega Man made me cry a little too.

Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there!

I don't remember Mega Man looking like that.

I loved the Transformers, but another favourite 80s toon of mine was M.A.S.K Does anyone remember that?

I remember the 'MASK' toys quite well, but I never saw the cartoon; on the flipside, I watched 'GI Joe' and 'Transformers' religiously, but never owned a toy from either one until last year, when I bought the Unicron figure (like everybody else who has one of those, I put his individually-articulated fingers to good use by depicting him flipping off my huge collection of Gundam models) (come to think of it, I've never watched any of the 'Gundam' shows, either).

And I take it you also don't remember him sounding like a chain smoking grandmother?

I do remember his voice, and didn't dislike it.

I also remember he was green, but I didn't recall the visor.

Well the webcomic "Captain SNES" is a fan continuation of the story and is done quite well, so head over to www.captainsnes.com to waste some time before the DVD comes out. :P

that's not his visor, at least I think it isn't

anyways the only real redeeming factor of Capt N was that Bayou Billy & his croc were in it! Well, & Mother Brain looked like Shenade O'Connor w/ her makeup on

Now Transformers? Only saw 1 episode

Soundwave is funny

Now the megaman cartoons, now THEY were a classic. I still can't believe my first crush on a girl ever was when I was like 5 & my crush was on Roll from the series. That makes about as much sense as Gutsman hearing the silent alarm!
