Except for Cartman (who has a 90% chance of being wrong whenever he opens his mouth) and the terrorist guy, no one was slamming Family Guy. Heck, Stan & Kyle were openly supporting it. The episode wasn't about Family Guy anymore than "Simpsons Did It" was about The Simpsons; like the older episode, this was about South Park itself.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

It's true that this was really something of an allegory about South Park and censorship on the whole, but it's a known fact that Trey and Matt hate Family Guy with the passion of a thousand rabid dogs and it really showed through here. I mean, just their parody of Family Guy was so true to that show's formula and so poignant it was hysterical all by itself.

"Like that time you had tea with Mohammed, prophet of the Muslim faith?"

Awesome.

I don't know, the Simpsons Did It episode was more of a tribute than a knock. This was a blatent shot. Cartman in the episode is likely how they feel when idiots compare South Park to family guy.

Their criticism of Family Guy's writing style is on-target. Its a slew of pop culture references and non sequitor sequences used with constantly repeated toilet humor, whereas South Park is a deep rooted satire with about five or six different levels woven through the toilet humor.

That always drags on for about three times as long as it should.

Yeah, the whole pop-culture reference thing is getting out of hand.

It also doesn't help that Family Guy really hasn't evolved their show since the introduction, and the episodes that were produced since they came back have almost all repeated what they've done before. The two longrunning successful animated satires (Simpsons and South Park) all worked out their kinks and developed a strong satirical style by their third seasons. Family Guy is still doing the same thing they did in the first episdoe (dumb plot, pop culture references 1, 2, 3, and 4, non sequitor sequences 1, 2 and 3, fin).

Still though, in every other episode, Stan and Kyle are the voice of reason. Here, they're supporting Family Guy. That doesn't really seem like a knock to me.

Look how they portray the show when they watch it on South Park itself. Its portrayed as a pisspoor show utilizing pop-culture nonsequitor sequences that aren't really funny.

Slightly off topic, but..
I never liked Cartman's new "Full Blown Bigot" attitude they gave him.

He was actually funny back before he got all serious.

New? Cartman was designed from the start to be a modern-day Archie Bunker. There's nothing new about his bigotry.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Good. I hate Family Guy like the plague. I especially hate Stewie and the dog. But, nevertheless, I agree with South Park's anti-FG episode, because all of their points, more or less, are true.

I'm just wondering if the FG writers are gonna try and get revenge on South Park....I highly doubt it though.

WTF are you talking about. Look at the first season, its the same stuff, albeit more raw and less refined. He's always been a loudmouthed, hateful bastard. They actually evolved the character and further built on him, unlike Family Guy...where the only character evolution was the de facto elimination of Meg as a character that matters.

I dont ever remember Meg mattering. She's pretty much been a filler. Chris seems to be the second least important. At least they dont kill off characters that dont matter. We'd be left with just Stewie, the dog, and Peter.

I hope South Park wins the war against Family Guy. I know the Simpsons are beating Family Guy very badly in their war, so I'm sure South Park can come up with a lot more low blows to FG.

Oh, shut the f*** up about The Simpsons already.

The Simpsons jumped the shark waaaay back, and the show has been continually declining to the point where they almost completely rely on guest stars.

And don't even start about how Family Guy rips off The Simpsons. That's f***ing ignorant to think every mature-themed cartoon featuring a bumbling fat father rips off The Simpsons. Family Guy's plots are original, and the only argument that can be made against such is that The Simpsons have been around for 18 years.

And don't even f***ing start about how Family Guy takes too many shots at pop culture. What, South Park doesn't? Do you remember the last time they made an episode of South Park that didn't have something to do with pop culture?
