Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: Badger State Gender: Posts: 19,187 Thanks: 482 Thanked 1,384 Times in 812 Posts Blog Entries: 5 | Mencia has great delivery, but my main problems with him are that: 1) he has been known to steal from other comedians (including 12 whole minutes of dialogue from George Lopez). 2) he relies far too much on playing up his Honduran heritage. He's actually half-German, and his real name is not the hispanic-sounding Carlos Mencia but the extremely-European Ned Holness. He even used his real name on one episode of the show for a character who was a white historian. 3. his comedy is not as "equal-opportunity offensive" as he claims it is, with Hispanic and Black people recieving much harsher jokes than other groups of people. |
