There is exactly one human who knows Zim's identity, and he has a genius father's entire workshop to combat the alien with.......but he's a conspiracy nut, so no one believes a word he says anyway.
Except perhaps his sister........but she couldn't care less, as long as no one interferes with what she wants.

That's the appeal; the characters playing off of each other.

The premise is awesome, I agree, but the writing is....not that great. I just never found it to be very funny.

Spongebob: Occasionally funny, and some interesting concepts (Plankton), but overall not very good.

The biggest problem with Spongebob is that it's on the air where people can see it. That was the biggest problem with My Life as a Teenage Robot and CatDog.
