Valentine's Day vent.

Yeah. I'm all alone in my apartment while all my friends are most likely gonna be getting laid and partying with each other and their Valentine's Day dates.

I know what you're thinking "most people don't have one." But ALL MY FRIENDS do, and that's what's important. The important thing is I have no one to talk to. My sister is usually the first person I go to in times like this, and she's going out with her friends. My brother NEVER returns my calls, and my parents are in Florida with their friends who ALWAYS take them on luxury trips and parties whenever I need them the most.

And then, there's you guys, who have increasingly taken on a blind eye towards my problems (except X-3, Esdee, Nom, UN, and Val, who I appreciate very much), and I don't know what to do.

Where is my support? Where are those who care about me? Apparently they have more important things to do.

SOMEONE please help me....before I completely lose it... I need love...and a hug...badly. -CSM

Do something to take your mind off it. Honestly, Valentine's Day is only a big deal when you make it such. Read a book, spend time on VGF conversing, watch tv (OMG LOST TONIGHT), or play a video game. If you dwell in your loneliness, you will feel lonely. So, do things to take your mind off of it.

Besides, you're in college, right? You're telling me there are absolutely NO anti-Valentine's day events going anywhere in your proximity?

Here's the thing: I don't wanna go out to an event that's with mostly rowdy drunkards unless I'm going with someone I know. I don't have cable OR good TV reception, and the only video game I have is FFIII DS.

^Sadly, there isn't. At least among the people I'm close with.

And it IS a huge deal because my school newspaper publishes about 10 friggin' pages on people bragging about how much sex they've had or are planning to have or how hot their boyfriend or girlfriend is. At this school, you're an outcast if you don't have regular sex or are in a relationship. -CSM

It's just another day, with an excuse for people to feel smug about their sexlife. Nothing to worry about, though I understand what it's like to be lonely 'cause everyone else is busy. At the same time, there's always something else for you to do, as ZG pointed out. TV, reading books, games... if you don't have anything new to entertain yourself with, try your hand at something artistic! Drawing, writing, anything you can do to create things. Even try cooking something, just search a recipe on the internet and choose something easy, then you get to eat a tasty thing afterwards! It's fun and you will feel good about yourself for putting in effort to create a piece of art.

That sounds like the worst school paper ever, CSM.

Being alone on Valentine’s day doesn’t bother me; normally, I don’t exude lugubriosity. But this year I am curious what it’s like to feel blue. Though it may be spurious, I’ve got nothing else to do.
So I’ll partake in all the weeping whims that I can find, maybe watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Or dress all grim and gruesome and drive until I’m ill, watch the happy twosomes whom, if I were truly lonely, I would probably want to kill.

And I’m gonna shed tear after tear.
Not that I’m a lonely guy,
But Valentine’s comes but once a year,
I might as well give it a try.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

You shouldn't feel sad that you're single. Everyone is at some point. You're a sweet guy, you don't need a girl to make your life rock. There are so many other aspects of life that are even better. And if you spend all your time looking for a girl, you'll miss the true joys in life.

Besides, Valentine's Day is a stupid holiday. People work it up and up until it becomes a let-down. Don't let it get you down!

You're a smart guy, try something new. I found that keeping myself busy helps me cope and move on. That's why I took up ballroom dancing and writing. Try new things, and keep pressing forward. Don't let life slip away, find the good things in it. There are better things out there.

I know there are a lot better joys in life, but being around people is one of the greatest joys of all, and if people are gonna be sexhounds, then I guess I need to find a new group of people. -CSM

If your friends don't respect how you're feeling right now and that they're not helping with their sex talks, then I think you're right. Obviously, you don't have to desert them forever, but maybe belonging to another group as well that respects you will be better for you.
