The sun and the earth.

Frustration at people culminates with reading this article:

Sun will swallow earth: astronomers

According to these scientists, the sun shall engulf the earth in seven point six BILLION years.

They go on to say that "future generations" could figure out how to alter earth's orbit to avoid going fatally close to the sun, OR create some manner of ship that we can all live on, while the earth gets consumed.

In 7.6 billion years, though.

I genuinely hope that in 7.6 billion years, humans will have come to a peaceful end anyways.

The earth can't cope with our rate of consumption of all its resources as it is.

Maybe these scientists should worry more about how we can survive the next couple of hundred years, instead of harping on about billions.

Thank you for listening to my vent.

I would, but I don't think people would like me bitching about my personal problems...

QUICK! DESTROY THE ANDROMEDA KEY!

...no one will get that reference.

But yeah, people need to stop worrying about what will happen in billions of years. It's not like it affects us that much, unless people from the future come to our time and beat us up...for some reason. Even then, it'd be beyond retarded, as you can probably see.

...damn, I talk too much.

I thought it was 2012. Oh well what's one year compared to six BILLION years.

I've got my umbrella ready.

I think that technological singularity would take over long before Sol starts nibbling on Terra. Assuming, of course, that the Earth and us stick around for the next hundred or so years.

I can't help but wonder if the technological singularity is just science fiction.

^Totally. All we have to do is not give our computers arms. Let them bitch about how much smarter they are all they want; I can still mule-kick mine out the window if it gets lippy or evil, so that's that.

Isn't there a Maya prophecy about how the world is going to blow right on up on December 21, 2012? Because if that actually happens, just before the goddamn lava tsunami (or whatever) hits, I'm going to be all, 'Well, I'm glad I wasted all that time going to college.'

Technological singularity can be a good thing too

The Mayan's didn't predict the end of the world; rather, their calendar simply ended on that date. As far as I know, no evidence towards why they did that has been found, and I would happily assume that it was just a good number (ridiculously far into the future) for them to end it on.
