| WELL I AM. Join Date: May 2001 Location: Farmerland. Gender: Posts: 7,553 Thanks: 102 Thanked 347 Times in 205 Posts | Man, why does this crap always happen... I'm just going to copy-paste this since I really can't put it any clearer. One of my close friends was driving home last night after an award banquet deal for seniors. After dropping his girlfriend off, he was driving home, which is a few miles out of town. Since it was pretty late and there aren't any streetlights on the way back, it's hard to see anything. So he's out of residential areas on the highway when suddenly a woman starts to walk out in the middle of the road. There were no sidewalks, so she shouldn't have even been out there. She apparently didn't even look for traffic when crossing, so it was just all of a sudden. To put this in simple terms, he hit her and she died in half an hour. The officials are saying that my friend isn't really at fault and it sounds like it will be classified as an accident. They'll also be testing the woman's blood for alcohol as well, which would pretty much free the guy from any fault at all if the tests are positive. Then there's the factor that the woman wasn't doing anything safe. (Reflective clothing, staying in well lit areas, staying at sidewalks, etc.) Still, damn... I can't believe it... It's just... man. __________________ Can I has signature? |

He's probably really shook up. I'm sorry to hear this, Loot. *hugs* |

I'd hate to live with that shame, so since I know it was an accident, I give my heart out to both the woman's family and your friend. Unfortunately, since I'm a dude, I have to break the hug streak. But I'll do the male to male equivalent. -CSM |

I'm really sorry to hear that. It's a terrible accident... :/ Your friend should be commended for doing the right thing, though. You hear about so many hit-and-runs, it seems. I knew someone who also had an accident that resulted in another person dying. He took a long time to deal with the guilt and grief. I hope your friend can get appropriate support to help him through this. |
