So I got an email from my friend saying I can't come to his graduation party (even though it would likely be the last time I see him) because his parents are being strict about the number of people who can come. I invited him to mine, but he says he doesn't want to come. I invited about 120 of my closest friends right now, but it only seems like 20 of them will show. It feels like most of my old friends don't want to see me anymore, and I'm a little sad about that. I don't know how to go about making new friends anymore now that I'm out of college. I actually have a request for you guys: I want to have a "party" with you guys, sort of, in a way that people online get together (like in IRC or something) because I feel better when I talk to someone, you know, and I hate being alone without people my own age. -CSM |

The only thing I'm confused about is the IRC part (and I'm a computer scientist ). Are you referring to an instant messenger of some sort to do this party thingamajigger? |

I saw on my facebook I have 500+ friends, looking through, I know ALL of them. I may not know them well, but I know them. Numbers don't matter though, I'd rather have 2-3 great friends than 100 people I don't know too well. |

Maybe more party goers, if its graduation party, but not friends. I might come in and see whats up or something maybe. Or totally forget. |

None of them made it, but I wasn't too mad: Some had just left on summer trips overseas, some had previous committments, & some just didn't get the invite in time. One was really excited about it, but then his grandpa died & he had to go to Kentucky for the funeral. One had an appointment for some aspect of planning her wedding that day. Probably a couple forgot, but I have no way of knowing who. I've spoken to half of them since the party, and they were sorry they couldn't show. I'd love to do your chat party, but without a date & time, I don't know if I'll be available, since I don't have my work schedule past next weekend & there are chores & errands & jury duty & all kinds of hang-ups to deal with. You might not have to write everybody off yet, man. Just get in touch with them & see what they're up to. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |
