Pirating videos is wrong, but it is also bad to demand access to everyone's personal information.

That guy has an annoying voice.

The copyright infringement is legit: he is using their logos. Dumbass.

Of whom are you speaking of?
Certainly not me, I am merely keeping you informed.
And yes, it is annoying.

Well, if it's you or something, then congratulations on your having made a grievous mistake. I was referring to the author of the video.

The "infringing" video contains trademarked logos. Without the owner's permission, it is technically in violation of said trademarks to reproduce the logos.

Copyright is not in the Constitution. The right to privacy is implied by the Fourth Amendment, and there is an explicit right to free speech. If the government can't intrude, there's no way in hell big corporations can. -CSM

^Copyright is in the law, though. You & AI are addressing completely different things.

That said: Fair Use Act.

Viacom is pursuing some legitimate infringment issues. But the company is also attacking home movies where somebody passes by a poster for a Paramount film, or telecasts of things Viacom doesn't own just because of the corner bug (which people would get rid of instantly if they could) signalling that it aired on a Viacom-owned network, or example clips used in legitimate works of criticism or parody. Basically, they're crippling their completely valid complaints by lumping it in with a bunch of utterly invalid complaints.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Yeah, they've gone way over the edge. I just thought it was ridiculous that someone would claim they had no right to claim infringement on his video, when that someone went out of his way to plaster their logos all over said video.

^but the thing is they can't cry copyright infringement on a trademark. and by claiming copyright infringement over a trademark, like that logo, Viacom broke the law!

Actually they can, if it's thier Logo or Trademark.

Nintendo could totally shut down 10% of the internet for using their logo at any point, but they don't because they are nice.

sorry tazzy, but viacom did commit a federal offense by filing a false copyright infringement claim against that youtube user. he was using a logo for the use of commentarry/news, which is fully legal and protected by the constitution.

.....

He's not really a true news service. He's just a Youtube user with effects, so Viacom shut it down.

It's all about perspective really :/

Tazy is right. This guy is not a legitimate news source. Look at all of his videos. All they say is that Viacom is suing him. I don't think his complaint is legitimate either, because I can't find anything that doesn't cry "Viacom is deleting my channel". I think he really is just using this as a gimmick to get more views and to bring attention to himself.

Viacom has every right to shut down certain videos that show their stuff such as southpark episodes, weeds, etc. It is illegal to share like that.

If you see the new batman movie in full on Youtube and Viacom decides to shut it down because it's copyright infringement, should you feel sorry for the user and still be pissed off at Viacom? Whether you like it or not, the law is the law.

^Actually, I would be pissed at Viacom for that, because it's not their movie, and thus, it's not their place to get it removed.

^^There's a HUGE difference between showing a whole episode of South Park online (which is done legally by Matt and Trey anyway, and would be copyright infringement if it was done otherwise) and talking about, making reference to, or making a parody of South Park, or even making a short South Park clip of your own to insert into your own original cartoon (all of which fall into the realms of free speech or fair dealing). -CSM
