That's not helping at all. It's not boycotting Youtube, it's boycotting Viacom.

I guess they're able to see the viewing history of every user on Youtube.

From Wiki:
US District Court Judge Louis Stanton, on July 1, 2008 granted Viacom's request for data upon which YouTube viewers watch which videos on the website to support its case in a billion-dollar copyright lawsuit against Google. He debunked privacy concerns, directing Google to give Viacom viewing log-in ID / names of YouTube users and Internet protocol (IP) addresses (online identifier) and video clip details (totalling more than 12 terabytes of data). The judgement was criticized by Google and privacy advocates. Simon Davies said that the privacy of millions of YouTube users was threatened: "The chickens have come home to roost for Google." Stranton however, denied Viacom's pleas "to get its hands on secret source code used in YouTube video searches as well as for Internet searches, and to order Google to provide access to the videos YouTube users store in private YouTube files.

The ironic thing about this is, I found out through Screwattack, which is owned by Gametrailers, which is owned by MTV, which is owned by Viacom.

It's really not that bad in the first place after reading a few more articles. Viacom is seeing this to bring forth evidence in their lawsuit against YT. I guess they're going to see which is in greater supply, their videos or original content. I doubt that it'll work though. Because some titles may say "Spongebob" and not be a clip, but a parody or something. Eh. I'm not big on the details, but hopefully Viacom doesn't abuse this. They have claimed that they're only doing it for the lawsuit and are not going to go after any YT users.

*shrug* I don't know about you all, but I've got nothing to hide. Maybe their investigation will increase the view count on my Good Life video.

I would if you appreciated the usefulness of periods to seperate your sentences, and knew the difference between "there" and "their".

Speed you had nothing to hide from Viacom yourself. You had homemade videos and I knew that you sort of enjoyed putting them up there. I know you did it in protest of Viacom but to delete your account seemed foolish. Now how are you gonna upload your "demonic bionicle movie" in july 2009? Lol...

Speed you aren't a big video maker yourself. You are perhaps the least known person on Youtube. I doubt Viacom would change their mind because you deleted your account as well as a few other people whom I'm sure wouldn't get their accounts deleted because of the fact that they got famous on Youtube and to delete that account would take away their fame.

Regardless of what Viacom intends to do, it opens the door for everyone else to butt in and go after YT users. -CSM
