I didn't really need anything so I told him I was good. Later on he tells me he bought a 24-pack of water and said if I wanted some he would sell it for 75 cents or so if I didn't want to pay a dollar at the vending machines down the hall. Unfortunately, I decided to decline this very very very generous act of his. There's nothing better than a co-worker trying to make some extra cash off other workers, afterall. Why would someone even offer to sell food or drink to someone else when you would assume your 'friends' (as in semi-friend, not best friend) with this co-worker? If he wanted to be generous, he could offer a water to me, meaning only one. Of course the repercussion to that would be if a scenario occurred where I tried to 'leech' off of him for more free water, which is understandable of course. (Just for the record I'm not that kind of guy). The other option would simply not even offer to give me water. If we're not good enough friends (which we both know we aren't) then don't offer to share something you don't want to. Anyway, I found it quite insulting that a 'friend' would try to sell me water. If he was going to sell me RAM or a game sure, of course I would have to buy it, but water? That's ridiculous. I can just as well save money and buy a 24-pack water for 5.99 instead of paying some random kid 75 cents for a single bottle. I don't understand how it could have eluded him how awkward it was when he offered to sell water. I guess the good news of all this is I probably won't forget to bring bring a reused water bottle and free filtered water to work as often in the future mornings. |
