Even gas stations mark up prices absurd amounts just as a convenience charge. You could get a 2 liter at the grocery store for just over a dollar but a 20 oz (just roll with it Karg, I know they measure those in mls here) at the station might cost as much as 4 bucks.

Hell, my DSL connection has a 10 gig a month cap, and that's one of the top-of-the-range deals in Perth.

I had some brandy the other day and it was terrible. It tasted like liquid knives.

Then again, I was probably doing it wrong, but still.

I drink sometimes, and it is fun. But I hate societies in which the only thing you can do to have fun is drink. There are lots of other things to do in this world. I only get hammered about once every few weeks though, and most of the time I end up regretting it. -CSM

Oh I know you guys are getting bent over the barrel for electronics, and that really sucks. And I'm not exactly current on how much people earn, standards of living, disposable income, etc people have there. But a quick google of Baileys into AU is showing roughly 29.99AU for a 750ml (about $24 USD). Still only a +5 USD difference from what it runs here.

Besides, I'm not sure why anyone over there would even want Baileys. Aussie wine is really good, and I've had some really really good Australian stout (AND FOSTARS ITS AUSTRALIAN FOR NOTSOLDHERE LOLOLOLOL).

Ideally you want a snifter (Snifter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) so it can breathe and only like 3oz in it. Its a sipping drink, not something you just down like a shot.

Alcohol is okay, but for the most part I can't stand it for too long. If I plan on it, I'd need a glass of water next to me to help wash it all down.

bomby i luv u man when r we gonna hang out?!?! SHUTUP I'M TALKIN TO BOMBY yo i'm gonna go find some french fries peace

Again, there should be a topic in which Joker just gives advice to people all day.

Anyway, I never really understood the point in drinking to have a good time...I understand that it does the trick for lots of people, but I don't see why some people think it's necessary. Many a time have I been around people I know and had to listen to them complain about the night not being any fun because they're "totally sober". If anything I understand how it can supplement the level of enjoyment, but a big part of finding good friends that are worth holding onto is being able to have fun with them in any circumstance. Have I been drunk? Sure. But I sure as hell don't need it to entertain others...and entertaining myself is a given, I'm way too easily amused.

If you need alcohol to open up and be a crazy and interesting person, you are neither crazy nor interesting.

Meanwhile, I jump on furniture and sing songs from Sweeney Todd while completely sober.

What's annoying about the whole alcohol ordeal is if you act 'crazy and interesting' while sober, people think you're strange(Well at least for me, or maybe they just find me annoying). However, it's normal to act 'crazy and interesting' only while drunk.

Hmmm... well, that explains it quite well. It's a good piece of psychological info to have.

Actually, the placebo effect is much more annoying. (Acting crazy and interesting when you usually don't because people believe you're drunk)

Yeah, the price doesn't really read too different when you break it down - I suppose to a non-drinker anything over $20(australian or otherwise) a bottle starts to sound out of the question. I'm still halfway between US and AUS mode so I start to think I'd be better off getting a decent whiskey if I'm going to blow that much. Cost of living is pretty high here, so it's hard to say how people feel about their money. I tend to think I could own plenty of permanent things for that price. Wine coolers and other fruity drinks just got a bump from federal tax to cost a crapload per 4 pack, supposedly because inexperienced drinkers favor them and act irresponsibly.

Personally, I can get a good bottle of Moscato (sissy dessert wine - flavor takes all) for about $15, so there's not much to complain about from my perspective.

Nothing special about the beer here, same old honestly. There's a pretty big market for bitter beer that I don't understand in the least. I tried a pretty awesome wheat ale, but I don't drink beers or ales often at all.

Bomby, I think anyone who has to have a drink to have a good time has got a problem - and I mean that flat out. I like to drink on occasion, but only a little to "take the edge off" when I'm in a celebratory mood.

^ And I have no problem with people drinking like that, to "take the edge off." It's the people who are obsessively drinking that bother me. Like most of Wisconsin.
