You could live under a rock, and then nothing ever would be relevant to you.

What matters is the collective conscious.

which therefore means that everything is relevant to some degree, making bomby's argument invalid

This debate is cute, and all, but since I'd rather this topic be about, you know, what it was meant to be about, quit flashing your 'knowledge' of philosophy.

Funny, I would have thought a debate about relevancy would include definitions of relevancy.

Guess the high horse parade proved me wrong.

You know, I think Bomby replied to Chunky in a way that wasn't entirely context-appropriate in the first place, leading to this general confusion.

Horrible songs do leave behind a legacy, without a doubt. Pop culture accepts all the worst fads into its history with open arms, and takes every opportunity to remind us that such abominations exist.

Relevant to every day life, no. No song continues to be relevant to every day life for years; simply the way of things. But Chunky hadn't said it was relevant, he said there would be a legacy, as with all awful songs, such as the Macarena, Hamster Dance, Mad/Crazy Frog, etc etc.

Aside from that, actual life/world-changing events don't have a direct relevance to all people's every day life; thus, I would again agree with Chunky.

...Can we leave it at that? Both concepts are right in their own fashion, but in general, they actually apply to two different ideas. A legacy isn't the same as relelvance.

How much do you think anti-Israel terrorists have impacted US security protocols, and therein affected your need as a U.S. citizen for personal identification?

I can certainly tell you it used to be a lot easier to get on a plane.

My argument was that it's retarded to liken the macarena to the goddamn holocaust which not only led to the creation of an entire country but has since then created entirely original context for diplomatic issues, news media, and security concerns. It's even relevant to the plots in everyday entertainment media. There's an entire section of historical education in public schools dedicated to it.

The difference in "relevance" is astounding, concerning your every-day life.

So no, different argument.

Serious business. On the internet. Someone mentioned the Holocaust in a facetious manner. In reference of a previous misinterpretation.

Quick, everyone get out your Offended Hats and plant them firmly on your head. There's a Holocaust to defend.

I think we're done here. We're done here, right?
