It doesn't matter that Batman has kryptonite. Superman knows that Batman has kryptonite, and therefore would know better than to just walk up to him. Superman doesn't even need to be anywhere near Batman in order to defeat him. Superman could just throw cars at him from five miles away. And no, Superman isn't stupid enough to fall for some trap Batman could rig for him. Superman has a genius IQ, a fortress full of Kryptonian technology and knowledge, and the ability to speed-read through any book in seconds. He's not the "dumb jock" DC Comics wants you to think he is. I'm not trying to knock Batman. The dude has mad skillz. But don't try to tell me he could whup Superman in a fight, because he couldn't. E.T. has mad skillz too, but that doesn't mean he could whup the alien from Alien in a fight. |

A large majority of the time Superman probably would win... I'll just leave it at that... Also, it also matters whether or not Batman knows about Superman wanting to kill him. Not even taking into consideration as to why they would want to kill one another. The debate will probably never end, and keep going like a spiral. Its something I'm not so sure I would really rather to get into. Last edited by Vgfian; 07-28-2009 at 10:11 AM. |

Secret identity, colorful costume, superhuman powers, and even the word "superhero" are all derived from him. And when you really think about it, no, Superman isn't "plain" at all. He's marvelously complex and multilayered, with huge potential. But in the hands of less skilled writers (such as those who wrote the movie Superman Returns), he's reduced to a big boyscout in a cape. Superman is so great partly because he's basically what Jesus would be like if Jesus had been a costumed crimefighter. He's immensely powerful and almost Christ-like in his benevolence, but though he's adored by the world, he's also irrevocably alienated from it. He's the only one of his kind, descended from on high to watch over us but to never truly be one of us. And like Jesus did when He drove the money changers from the temple, it's possible for Superman to lose his temper and go completely ballistic. And when he allows himself to do that...well, the entire solar system had better watch out. Superman is a marvelous character. He's also, however, an old and overly familiar character, and you know what they say about familiarity breeding contempt. He's become so ingrained into our collective consciousness that we no longer see him for what he can truly be. We just see Brandon Routh doing nothing but lifting extremely heavy objects for two hours. And that's a shame. |
