Cynicism has become cliche.

I've been very cynical for quite some time, but in seeing how cynical people are, I've become cynical of cynicism, therefore somehow rendering me an idealist once again. Albeit, a very pessimistic idealist.

This is of course, going by the contemporary definitions of "cynicism," "idealism," and "pessimism."

I'm not sure. The threadstarterpost was really a broken thought which I really hope you understand what I mean but I won't blame you if you don't because I feel I didn't explain it too well.

To which will be replied with an equally broken though.
Transcendent Cynicism

I haven't figured out what it means yet, but you will be the first to know, or very likely the second, possibly the fifth.

I'm not concerned enough with other people to care if I'm that much like them. I've been a cynical optimist for a long time, now.

In my case, it's more being disgusted by and/or growing tired of said cliches than being concerned about cliches. When it gets to the point where a movie that has a happy ending without killing off half the characters is automatically considered "not art," or any work in which someone overcomes a seemingly impossible situation is ridiculed for having such a plot no matter how well it's done (Slumdog Millionaire), I feel the right to complain about cynicism.

Like, seriously, for the most part, Demotivators were a lot funnier when they were being done by Despair, Inc. Then everyone and their mother started creating JPEG images in their style and it became overdone. What does this have to do with cynicism? I actually have no clue. But I felt like complaining about it.

I call it the "Daria Effect". Being a goody two-shoes or someone who is never angry or sad is now "Gay" and "Stupid" and "Cliche" because "people can't relate to them". So then you try and make them like Daria because people said she was "Intelligent", "modern" and "Something people can relate to" despite that quite a bit of people liked Daria for her interaction with other colourful characters.

Of course nowadays you have to make someone emo and sad because making them like Pollyanna or Pippi Longstocking is considered "Gay".

^Big difference between the two: Pollyanna was nothing but cheeriness 24-7; Pippi actually had mulitple emotions to her optimism & could actually do things to justify it.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I'm thinking more along the lines of the "Nineties Anti-Hero" than "the Daria." For one thing, Daria is one of my favorite television shows of all time. How could I ever tire of it?

But does it even work this way?

If you're right Metal, backwards day would actually make you wrong, wouldn't it?

Backwards day would tend to make me wrong, but then it would also twist the day to forwards day without my help. I'd be wrong and tell people it was backwards day when it was backwards day even though that meant it was forwards day.

What a logic puzzle that is.
