Spending money on obsessions

I got back into Yu-Gi-Oh. My money is slowly depleting. And I hate myself for it.

Anyone have similar experiences?

I spent about $100 on the 3 1/2inch and 6inch Star Trek action figures from the new movie.

They are sitting in the back of my closet, still in their packaging.

I used to do the same thing with Magic: the Gathering cards. I must've had several hundred dollars worth of cards.

Then earlier this year, I sold them all for $40. I needed the money.

I used to play Magic myself, but that was back in the Mirage days. I haven't played in 10 years at least. I also used to collect basketball cards. -CSM

I had a brief resurgence of MTG myself; I ended up spending about fifty dollars before I stopped myself. Now that I'm earning a salary, though, fiddy bucks ain't not that bad =/

My money lays around in my bank account.

I plan to spoil myself with some computer and video game stuff, but ultimately being obsessed is over for me. I just don't see the point anymore. A bunch of blinking lights or pieces of paper won't replace the root cause of my ennui.

On the other hand, the occasional blinking lights and cardboard can amuse me for a little bit.

I've got some Mega Man action figures that I collected years ago, set me back about $100. But later in life, they'll probably make some form of a profit.

I wish I could use my money for obsessions right now, but it's good to know that I at least have it. Been saving up money like crazy because I'm aiming at saving $1500 for two big things I want to do next year.

M:tG is the only thing I spend much money on at all, but It's honestly not that much compared to most.

The following items are all vying for my money right now:

Music stuff (mostly drum equipment)
Old video games for RPG collection
Comic books
Akira Kurosawa movies

I do not have the money to fund my geekiness goddammit

MtG gets a chunk of my money from time to time, but not very consistently. I'll buy a few starter packs, make a deck, play for two months, then drop it. It happens 'bout once a year.

I used to be an avid Yu-Gi-Oh player also and ended up accumulating around 1000 cards, then became tired of my brother slaughtering me time and again during our duels so I quit.

You've got to pick one and focus on it. Take it from me: I'd love to be a full-out NES game and memorabilia collector, but I've got too many interests. Never have the time for more than one pass-time.

Not to mention how absurdly expensive music is. It's really only viable to me as a job option, outside of pirated software. :/
