At least attempt to understand my question

I may have posted this somewhere else, but it happened again recently. This is why I never talk about these things to my mom unless I'm forced to.

"Hi mom, I'm calling to ask about a document."

"wat"

"So I recently deposited money into a new poker site to take advantage of a bonus, and I already withdrew half of it from the one I already play at. I was planning on withdrawing the other half from the new one, but their policy states that before you can make a withdrawal, you must provide ID and a proof of address, and I don't have any bank statements or anything here. It could be faxed though. So would it be better to have the money sooner or could it wait until Thanksgiving break?"

"I DON'T WANT YOU PLAYING POKER WITH MONEY"

"...That's not what I asked at all." (I attempt to explain the key points of the question again)

"..."

"..."

"call me later"

"Um, ok, bye"

sigh

Edit: A couple other common quotes from family members that see me playing:
"Ew, so you're gambling online?"
"You should quit before you lose it all"

That sucks.

Keep trying, I guess... usually people only pay attention to the parts that are suprising, then just throw the rest of the statement away.
