Sorry it's a day late, but I want to vent all the things I'm thankful for this year: 1. My family - they mean the world to me obviously 2. The fact that I still have a job, because they could've easily laid me off. 3. Hoboken, because I wouldn't want to live in a place where I couldn't have a car and only has chain restaurants for another four years. 4. Janette Sadik-Khan, for once someone who understands that improving pedestrian and bike mobility is healthier for the economy and environment than improving automobile mobility. 5. Alan Grayson, the only Democrat in congress willing to call out the health insurance companies for doing everything the Republicans say will happen if we pass health reform 6. Phoenix, Portland, Dallas, LA, Minneapolis, Seattle, and the states of Virginia and New Jersey, for opening new transit lines since last Thanksgiving. Congratulations! 7. Syracuse basketball, for which without it winters would be long and cold and not entertaining. 8. Transportation Alternatives, for making sure candidates for NYC government positions get properly grilled on what they will do to protect pedestrian and cyclist rights. 9. Lacrosse, which while only important regionally, is hella fun to watch. All you west coasters get your DI schools to get teams. 10. Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart, who without them Glenn Beck would go unchecked 11. The people of Iran who want reform, who are being vigilant in their free speech and not backing down from government oppression (note: I do NOT want to go to war with Iran; I want the Iranians to change themselves) 12. Moderate Republicans (as well as Democrats) who are not buying into this radical tea-party hype. 13. All of you, for reading this. -CSM |
