I had a lot of these thoughts myself, Bomby, and I can sympathize with you. Unfortunately the media is perpetuating a culture of this stuff, and while it can be fun at times, it can get to the point where you're considered an outcast if you don't, which upsets me because I don't like doing this all that much (it's more work than enjoyment and about 90% of the time I either wind up failing miserably or doing something I would very much regret).

It's not fair for her to hate you because you had a crush on her; she should still try and reach out to you and let you know you had a friend in her, but if romance comes in I guess it can destroy just as much as it can create.

Bomby, believe it or not I sat and read that entire post. Your story is haunting and I believe that in many ways, despite my being a few years younger than you, I can sympathize.

Now, since this was obviously a vent and not a call for advice, I'll skip that. I understand the concept of a specific thing especially igniting bad feelings about past events in you, as I have a specific set of triggers for really sour memories myself. I just hope you understand that to us, you're far from worthless. You're Bomby, goddammit, and it'd be a different VGF without a Bomby to recommend us cool films and music and to provide us with that trademark wit.

Can I make a suggestion? Take up dancing classes. Change the association you have between dancing and your experiences with growing up and making mistakes. Of course it's an "easier said than done" situation, but you could do it if you were willing to try. You need something to help you get past all of that. I don't want to sound insensitive or like I'm trying to invalidate your feelings, but you're just caught up putting too much emphasis on these negative experiences; we're all young and stupid at some point, and we all make some bad choices, but that shouldn't rule any aspect of your life. *hugs*
