Thumbs up Glorious day!

I decided, after a long time of guessing that I'm lactose intolerant, that I should purchase lactose-free milk.

Lo and behold, drinking coffee has not resulted in feeling vaguely ill, nor have I any sign of stomach cramps! Lactose-free milk has been a success! And it's still real cow milk! Not fakey mcfake milk made from vegetation (soy milk, rice milk, oat milk, etc)!

Hooray for the people who added enzymes to milk to break down the lactose before my consumption!

Yay for cheating nature. =P

But seriously, it tastes just like regular milk? And how about price? Gotta cost like ten bucks a gallon, rite?

Yep, tastes great, which was the biggest winner. It was around $2.50 for a litre, which (conversion/currency roughly taken into account...) is about $8 a gallon. Honestly, though, the price of milk here is higher than in the US, so it's about 70% more expensive than regular brands. We've always bought the more expensive milk, anyway (supporting local farms), so it's not a big deal to me.

Well, when I've already been conditioned to expect the big mouthful of coffee to bring almost immediate discomfort, the complete and total lack of that reaction in my body is pretty huge. And since it tastes the same as regular milk, it's not like I'm constantly going, "HEY THIS IS LACTOSE-FREE".

Hey glad to hear that you don't have to forego milk now!

Also I'm now trying(and failing) to recall how many litres there are to a gallon. Now I have to go kick myself for never being able to get anything but a "C" in any math class I hope you're happy!

I have to break down liters into cups, since I remember there are eight cups in a liter and four in a quart. So I am pretty damn sure two liters is a gallon since a gallon is sixteen cups.

Then again I am an idiot.

There was a noticeable difference in the first cup of coffee. Hell, the first mouthful. I'm used to getting slight stomach aches as soon as I've had coffee (since that's the most common time for me to consume dairy), and I've been able to drink coffee daily with the lactose-free milk and had no problems at all afterwards.

Warning, possibly TMI:
Spoiler Below
If I drink a regular-milk coffee, I get stomach aches and gas almost immediately. Within about 20 minutes, I'll be feeling ill and generally uncomfortable. If I have any large-ish serves of milk products (say, around 2 cups worth or more), I'll have bad stomach aches, and often end up with diarrhea after several hours. Being Christmas, I ate quite a lot of things that contained dairy, I would guess it came to about 3-5 cups worth (milk in coffee while visiting other family, cheese in baked beans, milk, butter and cheese in cheese sauce, milk and butter in mashed potato, butter in the turkey basting/gravy, cream in marshmallow trifle [which I ate like four serves of over the course of the day XD], and some chocolate). I had pretty bad stomach cramps last night, and diarrhea this morning.

So, yeah. As for giving it a trial yourself, it depends what symptoms you've got and how well you can associate them with consuming dairy. My suspicions were more or less confirmed to me when I drank a milkshake (that was the only thing I'd consumed in over an hour), and I got bad stomach cramps only 5-10 minutes later.

I'm going to look for a tiny thermal bottle to carry around my own milk to have at other people's houses in my coffee.

^Can rice wine count as wine? The entire nation of Japan and Jed Clampett say yes.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
