So in my Physics class, I've been managing to maintain an A and have been reading the book and doing a bunch of crap because our teacher has a religion against teaching concepts. So, this last section, on fluids, I thought I knew what was going on. I got all of the assigned homework questions right, and I got the entire practice test he handed out to prepare us for the test right first try. Well, considering I'd just aced the practice test and understood every concept on there, for some reason I had this idea that I ACTUALLY KNEW WHAT I WAS DOING. Welllll, we took the test the following class period and on half of the questions the question 'wtf is this?' was asked. Got the test back. I SHOULD have recieved a D+ because of my score, but it got rounded to a B+ because the HIGHEST GRADE IN THE CLASS was a low C. So, yeah, he rounded it so it still came out pretty much to what everyone deserved, but come ON. I knew everything on the homework and the practice test, so I assumed I knew the material. Somehow, I don't think it's right to have a test that EVERYONE who knew the homework and practice test material subsequently failed. :{/ Clarification: I'm not complaining about the grade. I'm complaining about the material on the test. Last edited by CuccoLady; 01-31-2010 at 02:07 PM. |

We had never discussed it and it was never on any of the work he gave us, and the homework/practice test is supposed to tell us what we need to know for the test. It didn't. |

She gives us a lab the day after we learned stoichiometry and without knowing how we were supposed to calculate how many moles were burned per second on our candle. It could be worse you could have failed it first try to. |

I had this sort of experience in second year in some electronics courses. The lab material was a month ahead of the lecture material, so it was very awkward figuring out what the hell they expected us to do. The lab itself was sort of cookbook, but since we knew little about the theory behind it yet, it was a huge pain. |

I learned almost nothing from the class that I didn't already know, aceing it easily; ironically, the professor himself was awful at following his own directions. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

The things we went over were the plot of the story, souned like the test would be easy enough, right? Wrong, about half the test was on the names of the characters. I knew the main characters, but then there were the minor gods that appeared for 2 seconds in the story, so everyone was basically saying: "Who the hell are these people?". Normally, the test would be curved, but instead since ONE KID, who was the freaking GENIUS of the school, knew all of the answers already, got a B. So I ended up with an F, along with a good portion of the class. Then the teacher had the guts to complain about our poor performance on the test... ![]() |

Sigh x{D |

She's irritated that her teacher provided questions on the test that they hadn't learnt anything about. It's not about passing, it's about crazy unfairness in putting unknown information into a serious test. |

If she wants to complain about something, why doesn't she complain about all the cuts to education and hospitals in CA? Or the 15% unemployment rate in certain areas, or the fact that property taxes and interest rates continue to go up while home equity remains low? This whole state is going under and all she cares about is the absence of some material on a friggin' test. Unbelievable. | |

Did you want to express your discontent with society through any sort of way that wasn't laced with a misplaced misanthropy? Even if you're correct, and there are hot issues burning right under your feet that adults should have to concern themselves with, you want the kids to be the ones dealing with it? How can you even blame her personally for it, and act like she's ever been made to be concious or concerned with these things? Someone like me tries to break out of those norms when he's younger, and the system does its best to try to screw me over. I thought you'd be the kind of person who'd understand this. Yet you blame her for the situation? Don't think this thread is the place to expound your anger. If you've got anything else to say, you're not going to do it in this topic. |

Lower student scores lead to lower school scores. Lower school scores lead to lower school funding, despite how little sense that system makes. Teachers like that are causing the cuts to education, Zhar. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

Read the last line on the first post; I am NOT complaining about my grade. I'm unhappy with the material on the test. Anyway, I've pretty much vented out my frustrations so if the admins find it necessary they can lock this topic x{D |
