What the Hell, iTunes?

So, my iTunes is running fine... and suddenly Apple begins bugging me to update to fix some reliability and stability problems I've never encountered. After the fiftieth or so popup(which blatantly ignored my DO NOT REMIND ME checked box) I finally update to 9.0.whatever the hell.

And now CRITICAL ERRORS OUT THE NUTSACK.

Way to fix an imaginary problem, Apple.

Note: It was a legit (albeit craptastic) update, not a virus.

Your question has been answered.

It took me no less than 3 hours of hacking their own broken installer and manually installing burner drivers just to use music that I owned.

Use an iTunes alternative, apple are terrible programmers, and iTunes is evil.

^Man speaks the truth. Never used iTunes so I can't speak to its quality, but the Zune software is really pretty great.

Used to have problems with album art on my old PC, but it works fine now. Better, actually.

Certain versions of Windows and certain versions of iTunes work fine. In fact, the older versions were just fine.

Then it was when I went to update that everything hit the wall and ARGHABRALSFBASLABGWLEG

You get the picture.

Get WinAmp. I'm planning on upgrading to WinAmp sometime this week (since iTunes takes up a ridiculous amount of space anyway.) From my previous experiences, it's soooo much better.

Don't look at me--My grandparents bought me an iPod I didn't even ask for.

Huh.

Well, now I'm glad I'm refusing all those "UPDATE TO 9.0 HURRRR" notices whenever I open the program. Relief that's only barely blotched by the fact another consumer had to suffer to alert others of this.

But thanks anyway, Mushi.

Use VLC with OGG encoded files on FreeBSD. That should clear your problem right up.

So, I got WinAmp.

And I must say, it blows anything Apple can try to bribe me with out of the water.

Note: I'm posting from it's built-in web brower right now.

You know what? I hate applications that build crap in like that. I want to play music. Why do I want an embedded web browser? I already have Firefox, which does it a brazillion times better.

Perhaps some pictures or a video to show us your problems with Itunes would help us figure out what your problem is. We might be able to help you fix this problem. I use Itunes 9.0 and it works PERFECT. Your errors on Itunes confuses me because 1. You gave no description and 2. It sounds pretty insane for an error.

Hey, it's not like they shove it down your throat or anything, it's totally optional, and is mainly supposed to be used for downloading music.

And as for iTunes, the critical errors seem to have stopped... But I'm not going back, so nyeh.

3. You don't understand the problem, Wariovswario.

iTunes 9.0 works only on some configurations. You, having a working one, don't seem to realize there are others which don't work. Just because yours works perfectly does not mean you can magically fix porting issues on another platform.

Thus, your help is appreciated, but, not needed or... likely to solve the problem, because it's a problem with the program itself. I got it working on mine, but only after literally hacking the application.

Now, if he wants to hack the application to make it work, then that can be explained, but otherwise... this is a closed case.
