A friend of mine has been being harassed by a group of douchebags online recently.

It's been happening alot, I don't really know the full reasons behind it but they've taken to harassing her freuqnetly on various forums.

Now I'll be the first to draw the line between the internet and life, it's the internet, douchebags are a dime a dozen, but aside from the fact that what they do to her is beyond the pale of most *******s you find on the internet my friend also has some...pretty crippling self exteem issues.

All I know is that every few weeks I'll get a call from her in tears and she'll tell me about whatever **** these guys just pulled.

All I can do I try and tell her to ignore these *******s but no matter what I say it just doesn't seem to make much difference.

I hate knowing that she's feeling like ****, cause of some insignificant ******* laughing his ass off behind a keyboard. I hate knowing I can't really do a thing to help her.

And most of all I hate the feeling, that deep down I know this is probably going to happen again.

I don't even know why I'm posting this really, it's 2 AM and I'm tired, just sort of venting here I guess...but hell that's what this forum is for right?

Depends on what they're doing, exactly. If it's just plain hateful, she can contact the webmaster or admin of the site she's on to ask for their help. If it's serious bizniss and the admin/webmaster is just too lazy, tell her to complain to the site's host server about it. Host might give them a boot in the ass.

If it's because she's an opinionated furry or something, well, sometimes you just don't talk about **** in public.

If it's genuinely harassment, she needs to contact her ISP with as much relevant information as possible (who they are, what they are doing, where it's occurring, and how long it's been happening). She should supply links to evidence of their harassment, and the ISP will contact whoever is in charge of these forums for further information (such as their IPs), so they can formally deal with it.

Yes, the internet has its share of *******s, but that doesn't make harassment something you just accept as part of the game. It's still wrong, and it can be taken care of appropriately. These kinds of people can and should be made accountable for their actions (the internet isn't removed from "real life", no matter what they like to believe). Make sure your friend gets it sorted out, dude. Good luck to you both, eh?

There are people around here who've had to deal with these kinds of things too. Take SDs advice, she knows how to get rid of creeps

If those don't work out for her, I'll get some bats.

I think that between Speed and I, we can generate enough awesome to leap through the interweb and learn those mother******s in manners.
