So, I was trying to work on my schoolwork, when Jenocide started banging on my bedroom wall, and showed that she had a dog about the size of our current dog. She said that the dog was sitting at our front door and that it wouldn't be right to shoo him away, so he created some fliers and put them in a few places. However, the dog is very rambunctious and seems very willing to attack our dog for getting too close. He has sharp claws and his razor sharp teeth are starting to develop. He appears to be part Pit Bull and part Retriever, and it seems he's a big crybaby when he's not biting at things. We've decided to wait a month for someone to call in looking for him and after such we'll take him in as our own and groom him as such. Personally....I'm not too sure about this dog. We've been talking about taking in a dog of our own, but this one's a little too rowdy, and a little too big, and he'll only get bigger. Personally, I want to get the ASPCA in to take him, but Jenocide kind of has a negative opinion on them I suppose. Besides, I already put up a few posters, with a few more going up tomorrow. If I didn't know better, I'd say this dog may have been trained to be a guard dog though. So, yeah, any advice for this situation? |

I know it's hard to let go, but you have to consider if your family is REALLY the best option for this animal. If he's not the kind of dog you're comfortable with, he'll be much happier with a family who wants, and has experience with, that kind of dog. It's great that you've taken him in even temporarily. Start with the training immediately, either way. He will quickly learn not to harass and bite the other dog if you're firm and consistent with training. |

Well, you could ask around, see if the dog even belongs to anyone. Until then, try keeping it away from things that he shouldn't be near. If you have some open area to spare, you could try a dog cage. Alternately, SD's advice is better. |

Lol actually our dad found him scratching at our door and he wanted us to at least keep him overnight. He had a leash and collar around his neck, but no tags. I walked around the whole neighborhood earlier and asked everyone I met if they had seen this dog before or knew where he lived. I don't want anything bad to happen to him. I'm not just going to let him back outside where he could get hit by a car or something. I'll totally send him to a no-kill shelter in a week or so. Tazy has nothing to worry about.Anyway, He's a little too rough and energetic to have around our old sedentary dog. So, we have an old doggie cage for the time being (he whines) and I'm starting to train him a little bit. Just a few basics. Our dad was playing with him earlier, though. |

Soo.. Yeah it sounds like he was dropped. :/ He sounds like our dog, part pit, whiny, so on. They make great pets.. On the fighting, I've seen it (fighting) happen before between male dogs, and I was told it's actually natural. They're attempting to figure out who is the alpha, at least the one may be anyway. I think he's attempting to essentially tell the other dog he's in charge and after it's established it should calm down alot. In my experiences it's usually just that two dogs have to get used to each other over time. Ask Galefore now, his home is the land of the canines. He can probably tell you something. ^^N'awww *pets and hands you a treat* :3 |
