Hate the fact that your parents know every which way to set you off, embarass you, ETC. And then they turn around and say they love you? -shot for that last part- But you get the idea .A. ...i hope.

I never got why everyone got their panties in a bunch over their parents "embarrassing" them, it was never a problem in my life. OH NOES I WAS CREATED BY PEOPLE WHO SAY AND DO THINGS OF THEIR OWN ACCORD. THEY ARE TOO OLD TO CARE ABOUT FRAGILE TEENAGE POLITIC. God knows, children could easily be an embarrassment to parents just as frequently.

The whole "choose your friends, not your family" thing is strange to me. I've never seen my family as people you can't sever ties with. As an adult, if everyone gets too complacent, they're disrespectful. I don't like that. Growing up as a teen, I can understand from both sides the conflicts I went through. I'll still choose my side every time, though, because I was right; if people actually cared about me, they should consider my feelings in a matter as well as my best physical interest.

Frankly, I think the worst thing about parents is how they feel ownership over another person just because they are charged with their offspring's care.

Haven't seen my father since 2004. He has a new family, and they're welcome to him.

@Booyakasha aw wow :c dang man

@ LLEB Well I have a few opinions on that. Its said that its a law if their parents don't discipline, they get in trouble with the law. But its one thing to discipline. Its another to just be a brat if you do something wrong. :\

@ SDRW Lol yeah. But I've seen some families that get revenge on each other with embarassment. (Both in stories and in real life...funny stuff.)

What is "wrong" depends on who's perceiving it, though. If it's simply about a parent expecting a young adult to do one thing or another, how is the law correct? If a confident teen chooses to disagree with their parent on a matter of behavior, laws don't do anything beside encourage a social norm. Laws are available to protect the collective interest of voters, not to provide fairness or a stable basis of rationale.

When you point out a higher level of justification, like a law, it's really still up to you to agree with it or not, or accept the consequences of the law.
